Announcements

16th May 2009

Dear Members,

The course development is getting on well. At present we have temporary tees at holes 1,2,7,8,9,10,and 17. The new 9th Green and lake area are progressing well and looks very impressive, in particular from the new back tee. Bunkers are underway on holes 1,2,4,7, and 8. Weather permitting the work team will commence 2 additional tees and 2 additional greenside bunkers per week over the next 6 weeks. The contract is due to be completed by 30th June 2009. Members can expect a lot of disruption Monday to Friday with temporary greens in operation on holes where work on bunkers is going on. Should the contractors decide to work on Saturdays temporary greens will be in operation and Games Secretary Jim Davern has informed us that if this is the case he will run separate Saturday and Sunday competitions. All greens should be playable for Sunday Competitions.

When the work is completed we will play, probably for the remainder of 2009 and until spring of 2010, on temporary tees. We will try also to move temporary tees back as far as possible after the contractors have gone off the site.   Drop Zones will be in play for all new bunker areas and irrespective of where you are in the disturbed area you MUST use the drop zone, without penalty. All the signs are that the course will be fantastic when re-opened for play in 2010.

Members are thanked for their courtesy at all times to the contractors and workers on the course who have priority at all times.   If you require further information please contact the Committee nominees Eamon Ryan, President 086 2607350 or Eddie Costelloe, Handicap Secretary 086 8058077

27th March 2009

Dear Member,

We wish to inform you that work has commenced on the course. For the next couple of weeks work will be concentrated on the new 9th Green and Lake, the 9th, 10th, 17th, and 7th tees. There is also a new pitching green and bunker practice area being build to the right of the out of bounds on the 17th and a new practice putting green to replace the existing one will be build above the fence between the 18th green and the 17th tee. For the duration of the works the course will be played as follows: 17th, 18th, 1st to 16th holes. This is because it is difficult to get from 16th green to temp tee on 17. The 17th is now a temp par 3 with the 7th a temp par 4 from the ladies tee.

In the next couple of weeks construction of tees and bunkers on all holes will commence with 2 new holes being started each week. This means that in time we will have 18 temporary tees. We will try and keep the course as long as possible during the work. On Sundays we hope to have most of the greens open with drop zones for areas under construction. However Monday to Saturday some holes may be out of play. One of the Men's Notice Boards has been designated as a notice board for Course Development. PLEASE CHECK THIS BOARD BEFORE YOU PLAY.

All members are asked to tolerate the disruption which will result in a far superior course being available to members in the latter half of the year.   PLEASE RESPECT THE CONTRACTORS WHO HAVE RIGHT OF WAY ON THE COURSE DURING THE WORK.

Any queries to any member of committee or Joanne in the office.

Regards,
Eamon Ryan, President and Eddie Costelloe, Handicap Secretary Club/Contract Liaison

The club is delighted to announce that the long awaited course redevelopment will begin March 18th and will complete June 20th, weather permitting. The work will see major redevelopment of bunkers and tees and promises to be a fantastic long term investment in golf and sport in Limerick and the local community. Well done to all those who worked so hard to propose and win approval for this project. We wish the ground staff good fortune in their work and pray that the weather will be kind to all!
